Handover in Purchasing

Frank Sommer takes the reins as Senior Vice President Global Purchasing from Rüdiger Mohr

Harsewinkel, 2 October 2023. Frank Sommer, responsible for finances in the CLAAS Business Unit Grain for five years, took charge of global purchasing on 1 October 2023. This switch is the result of organisational changes at the company, which also came into effect on 1 October as well.

“Frank Sommer is already responsible for purchasing in the Business Unit Grain and has built a strong reputation in a variety of management roles during his 25 years with the company”, says CEO Jan-Hendrik Mohr. “We wish him the best of success in his new position.” Frank Sommer will take over his new role as Senior Vice President Global Purchasing from Rüdiger Mohr, who in over 10 years has strategically aligned purchasing with the worldwide growth of the CLAAS Group and placed the division on an international footing. “We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to Rüdiger Mohr”, says CFO Henner Böttcher. “His contribution to the company’s performance has been stellar, and he has led purchasing through challenging times to considerable success.” Rüdiger Mohr will be in charge of the global network of dealers and distributors in his new role as Senior Vice President Dealer and Network Development.

In future, CLAAS Purchasing will be organised even more according to categories of goods, with a clear focus on the products. The objective is to define standard operating procedures and to automate processes. A global knowledge network will harness synergy within this framework. Jan-Hendrik Mohr emphasises: “The relationships we have built with supply partners over many years are the foundation on which we stand. We look forward to intensifying our dialogue in the future and to come together to drive innovation.”
